I stopped in to Guy's office last week and he told me he's already been asked to make recommendations for next year's dates. In fact he may even have already made them.
He also told me he's fielded many complaints about the lateness of the N zone duck season because of the early freeze up.
So it's time to start discussing next year's dates and making comment.
There's the distinct possibility some would want the second segment of the N zone duck season to start on Oct 10.

My opinion is the later the better , if you cant get into the marshes then go to the river . We have had some of our best hunts over a small pocket of open water , its fast and furious

It sucks that guys always rag on Guy because the weather didn't go there way. This year it froze too early, a couple years ago it didn't freeze at all, maybe next season the wind will blow from the wrong direction...who knows; but you can't blame Guy. I was fine with this years dates, they seemed to cover the spectrum of bird movement (if you were in the right place at the right time). Now, if Guy could do something about the flyways the birds are using then I might put a bug in his ear but short of that I trust him completely.

Then Goldilocks sat down in the chair of the Great, Huge Bear, and that was too hard for her. And then she sat down in the chair of the Middle Bear, and that was too soft for her. And then she sat down in the chair of the Little, Small, Wee Bear, and that was neither too hard, nor too soft, but just right. So she seated herself in it, and there she sat till the bottom of the chair came out, and down she came, plump upon the ground. Might have been some truth to that old tale, even if you like it and it feels just right who's to say the bottom isn't going to fall out......

I agree, the later the better,Have the youth season, and no early 5 day season, add that on to the end of the season.Seems like alot of the mallards show up a week or so after the season is closed.

Think of it as working together for a common cause.
